Introduction

In our Conan Exiles a Guide to Cooking, Potions, Elixirs & Books we will try to take you through the most important parts of of the craft, and how to acquire the knowledge you will need in the first place.

Conan Exiles offers up a wide variety of food, dishes & drinks which are indeed useful. If you are new to the game you will find that a lot of them are locked behind books. Obviously these books will need to be found and learnt. However some of these recipes are not easily discovered. So we have added a section with all these locations in the guide. Don’t skip to the end of the guide unless you want location spoilers.

This guide is a list of the current recipe books you can eventually discover in the Exiled Lands and their respective locations. When this was written there were 9 cooking and 2 brewing book locations to find.

Useful Tips

Some guides will tell you that all recipes are crafted in the Stove, however that is not the case with all recipes. In other words keep an eye out for where the recipes are made. This have had us all confused several times, so it felt worthy of a mention here. Moreover when you acquire Thralls above T2, such as a Cook, this will add other recipes to be unlocked in the Stove or wherever else you may place them. However, without a proper thrall, your unlocked recipes will not appear in the Stove and so forth
If you’re looking for Ice Tea to keep you cooler in the volcano, you need a T3-T4 Cook
If the food is spicy, it usually warms you up for cold temperatures
You can get Salt by using Stones or Crystals in Grinder, 10/1 and 2/1 output ratio
To make Spice you can use almost any fibers, herbs or plants in the Grinder, 10/1 ratio. (They also come from drops off of Pirates either in Buccaneer Bay or in The Black Galleon, this also includes Rare Spice). However you can also place Bark in any Alchemist bench provided it have a proper thrall in it, to make spice
You can get Dried Parts with the Dryer fueled with Bark
Regular Blood and/or Bones you can get by putting Human Flesh and/or animal heads in the Fluid Press
You can get Ichor by cooking Unappetizing Fish, Unappetizing Shellfish or pressing Putrid Meat or Glands
Demon Blood can be acquired by killing Rocknose Kings, Exploding Imps and some Demons
The Best meat harvesting tool is the Star Metal Cleaver (with Advanced Tool Upgrade Kit)
The Best sickle is the Obsidian Sickle (with Advanced Tool Upgrade Kit). (The Black Blood Sickle is the best looted sickle, and can be obtained from the Children of Jhil boss, Feasts-On-Flesh, in Bin-Yakin’s Seal)
Thralls have special food they prefer, which you can see in game once they are broken (tamed). Firstly not only do Thralls have special food that gives them more + in stats, but you can also buff them up with potions, elixirs and so forth, that you consume yourself. Secondly you can place elixirs and so forth in the inventory of your thrall and it will consume it and therefor gaining buffs from it

On our cluster server we play Conan Exiles Sorcery with mods. Some of these mods add drinks, food and brews they are included in the tables below

All Drinks & Brews Learned From Brewing and Cooking Recipes

Before the release of Sorcery most players did not find the drinks and brews to be of much use. As it is now they should be a focus for you, so no matter how trivial the benefits might seem, it is worth finding them all.

As a result of the changes made to thralls, their specs and abilities, all consumables have a fresh importance within the game. They are undoubtedly the difference between power and mediocrity.

Within the game there are some named NPCs in various areas that sell drinks and food, as well as other exciting items.

All Food Learned From Cooking Recipes

As you look through this table you may think that not all of these items exist within the game. That in the very least was my assumption at first. An example would be that not all the fish mentioned within this table appear in your fish trap. This has a proper reason and cause, as some items can be improved, but not without venturing into the dungeons for the end game knowledge.

Elixirs Potions & Books

When it comes to the time the Potions, Elixirs and Books last for 60 minutes. Which makes them very worthwhile, despite the resources needed to make them.

Elixirs

Elixir of Enduring: 50 points increase to Armor
Elixir of Freedom: 21 points increase to Stamina
Elixir of Grace: 15% increase to Agility Weapon Damage
Elixir of Numbing: 45 points increase to Carry Capacity
Elixir of Might: 15% increase to Strength Weapon Damage
Elixir of Sight: 30% increase to Concussive Damage
Elixir of Vigor: 60 points increase to Health
Tears of Gullah: 12% Follower Damage

Potions

Black Lotus Potion: 15% increase to Strength Weapon Damage
Frost Lotus Potion: Gives an RNG effect of one of the other potions
Golden Lotus Potion: 21 points increase to Stamina
Grey Lotus Potion: 15% increase to Strength Weapon Damage
Hunter’s Potion: 50% increase to Concussive Damage
Purple Lotus Potion: 12% increase to Follower Damage

Hanuman’s Gift

When consumed, Hanuman’s Gift gives the player one of the following buffs, randomly selected. The buffs last for 60 minutes

Agility Weapon Damage: +15%
Armor: +50
Carrying Capacity: +45
Concussive Damage: +30%
Health: +60
Follower Damage: +12%
Stamina: +21
Strength Weapon Damage: +15%

These books presently drop from The Archivist’s Assistant in Warmaker’s Sanctuary

Prophecy of the Borne Witch: 21 points increase to Stamina
Denizens of the Dark Well: 12% increase to Follower Damage
The Mastodont’s Tower: 15% increase to Strength Weapon Damage
Blood-stained Nails: 60 points increase to Health for you
Prince of the Black Shores: 30% increase to Concussive Damage
The Daughter of Ymir: 15% increase to Agility Weapon Damage
Time of the Scaled Lizard: 45 points increase to Carrying Capacity

Locations for Specialist Cooking & Brewing

Below follows the locations of where you can find the recipes needed to unlock more of the food, drinks and brews within Conan Exiles Sorcery. Located around the Exiled Lands there are many books you can pick up to read. They will not end up in your inventory always, some are just notes, others emotes and so forth. Therefor considering how many that are within proximity of each other, we have taken screenshots not just of the map to show their location specifically, but also the books themselves. So that there is not doubt as to where they are. As you will see when reading further, some books give more than one thing. This is not just a case in the matter of recipes but also other exciting things you will discover as you explore the map.

The recipe for specialist cooking 2, can be particularly tricky to get to. You will either need good skills for climbing or bring your climbing gear with you, provided you do not know how to fly. It can be hard to miss, so check the angles of the pictures to make sure you are on top of the correct “pillar”.
